After 10 years on the industrial floor - now Daniel builds MBrain "Building what I would have liked myself"

After over 10 years in heavy industries such as SSAB and Scania, Daniel Runnvik, 37, has moved on. He started a .NET-developer course at the University of Technology in Gävle. After his internship LIA (Learning on the job) he became a permanent member of MTEK.

"I was told by a coursemate that MTEK was willing to take on newly graduated students and that there was a very positive climate there. MTEK is growing, so I took a chance and applied here," Daniel Runnvik says.

It was a perfect match.

"Already halfway through the internship, I was offered a permanent job. It almost feels unreal."

The rumor about the positive climate at MTEK had not been exaggerated, Daniel says.

"After over 10 years in the manufacturing industry, you are used to jargon and established patterns, that you do what you have always done. Here it is exactly the other way around. It is very welcoming and you immediately become part of the group. It's an exciting environment where you get both time and help to develop and grow in your role".

Daniel's title is System developer.

"It feels like I can contribute with a lot thanks to my background in the industry. I understand the customer's needs”.

"Earlier in my career, I complained about the systems and wondered how those who built it were thinking. Now I get to build it the way I would have liked it myself."

Daniel Runnvik sees several advantages with MBrain compared to what he previously worked with.

"The strength of MBrain is the fact that the entire flow can use the same system. In the past I have experienced problems when sending material to the operators and there have been changes in the systems along the way. Sometimes pen and paper has been required in order for it to work. Here you have everything in one system”.

Before the pandemic, Daniel traveled a lot and together with his partner he studied for a few years in the USA. It is something he hopes to benefit from at MTEK as well.

“We are an international company that is growing. Being able to travel for work in the future is very tempting!”
