Elisabeth was the first employee at MTEK - "I have the best job in the world"

When MTEK's founder Mattias Andersson changed direction and received a large order in the company, he made a decision: "We were about to make a brutal investment. This called for exceptional money management.”

At an event in his home village Alfta in 2017, he met Elisabeth Pålsgård, 45. The very next day he emailed the employment contract, and Elisabeth became the first employee at MTEK.

"At that time, I was managing the administration of the family business, which dealt with contracting, real estate services and we also had a shop. What Mattias envisioned was something completely different from what I was used to", Elisabeth says.

As a self-taught financial administrator, she initially had to handle everything from bookkeeping, payroll and invoicing to property management.

“I'm glad to have been involved from the beginning. I have seen the whole journey and fully understand how the company works. Should I have started today, it would have been more difficult to get the same overview.”

From starting off slowly during the first years, the hiring rate has now increased considerably here at the company. We have exceeded 50 employees and during the summer - with temporary workers - the figure is around 70.

"But luckily, we are also growing on the support side. Today there are several people who work with HR, administration and structure", Elisabeth says.

Today she has the title Financial and Administrative Officer and she thrives in that role.

“I have the world's best job and the world's best colleagues. Although it can be stressful at times, it is never boring. And even if we have grown and have a lot more employees now, everyone is equally important and we are all headed in the same direction. We lift each other up and we have fun, that's the best thing about working at MTEK.”

Elisabeth is one of the few who does not actually work with MBrain.

“But we have sprint demos every other Friday, so I keep up with what we're doing. And it's impressive what a tool we've created. It's almost difficult to comprehend how fast it goes.”
