Alex Christenson
Product Growth Manager – CommercialThat's why Alex, 25, changed ed Los Angeles for Alfta:
"Here I get to learn how to work like an entrepreneur"
"MTEK is a safe place, here you can make mistakes without being judged. It's a good playground for someone like me."
That's what Alex Christenson, 25, says. At the end of the summer, he traded his life in Venice Beach south of Los Angeles in the USA for three months in the deepest Hälsinge forest in Alfta.
"I learn more here than I did at home," Alex Christenson says.
Despite the young age of 25, he has two master's degrees; in Innovation Management and Electrical Engineering.
Alex Christenson (who, just like you can tell by his name, has Swedish roots) first met our CEO Mattias Andersson in the USA, when Mattias was there to visit the co-owners Altra Motion. Alex became very intrigued by MTEK and quickly made the decision to move to Sweden.
"I wanted to be around someone who knows what he's doing, a person who is in the middle of a start-up".
The plan is to live in Alfta and work at MTEK's headquarters for three months.
“I really like the process here. I have colleagues who are intelligent but who still don't take themselves too seriously. It creates a nice atmosphere," says Alex with a broad smile.
He spends the little spare time he has in his rented apartment. He plays the guitar, reads, watches American TV and cooks. Of course he misses his friends in LA.
"Alfta residents are just like the opposite of Los Angeles, here people are friendly. Actually, Alfta reminds me of Boston, where I grew up. There it was the same climate and the same mentality".
At MTEK, Alex works with the software in MBrain.
"I will figure out how to improve the business logistics in MBrain and then when we have succeeded we will also make sure that we program it for the next update".
So what happens next? What awaits Alex after three months in Alfta?
“I'm going back to the United States. I either start something of my own or I start working for MTEK in the USA. They have started a journey that I´m very tempted to be a part of”.
