Elin Ryösä
QA Engineer – OperationsGeologist Elin changed career to quality assurance tester - "I got a kick from it"
Every installation and development of MBrain requires thorough testing before it is released.
Quality tester Elin Ryösa, 41, has an important role in that process.
"The development should not take place at the customer. Everything must be completely ready and stable before we deliver”, she says.
The more MBrain evolves, the more complicated it becomes.
“It´s necessary to constantly keep testing so the code base is not affected. Rigorous testing protocols are required with each update.”
Elin has a very concentrated look when she describes her job here at MTEK. She has been here since 2019. But the road here was not straight, at all.
“When I was 14, I got my first computer. I really liked testing programming. It's basically about solving logical problems. I got a kick from it.”, she says.
Nevertheless, she studied geology, in both Uppsala and Luleå.
"I did research on minerals for SSAB and LKAB in Luleå before moving back home to Hälsingland. I got a job as a field geologist at Kringelgruvan outside Edsbyn."
After a few years, there was an opportunity to study while working.
"I had worked a bit with automation and I also had the interest for programming. That's why I studied to become an automation engineer."
One day there was an open house at Alfta industrial center, where MTEK has its premises.
“Wow, is there a company like this in little Alfta? I talked my way in and got to do my degree project at MTEK. It went so well that I got a job right after I finished the education”, Elin says with a smile.
It was the year 2019. From the beginning she worked full-time with programming. But a year ago she changed to quality assurance tester.
“We are on a very exciting journey. To see how we build a tool that adds value to the industry on a daily basis is so exciting!" Elin says and continues:
"Here at MTEK, we have an amazing team spirit. Everyone wants to move forward. And to see how our work makes other companies save both time and money in their factories is so rewarding!”
The coolest thing about MBrain is:
That it can be used to reduce waste of resources, and that is positive both from an economic and an environmental perspective.
The best thing about working at MTEK is:
All the skillful and knowledgeable colleagues who work here, and to have the opportunity to connect everyone's perspectives into the testing.
